ANSI Z400.1-1998 MSDS Preparation Document Purchase "Hazardous Industrial Chemicals - Material Safety Data Sheets - Preparation" from ANSI. This document presents basic information on how to develop and write an MSDS. It identifies information that must be included to comply with the U.S. OSHA Hazard Communication Standard.
OSHA guideline on electronic distribution of MSDSs. (March 1998) This instruction establishes policies and provides clarifications to ensure uniform enforcement of the Hazard Communication Standard (HCS) - Paragraph (g)(8) [about half way down the page] covers electronic distribution of MSDSs - "electronic access, microfiche, and other alternatives to maintaining paper copies of the material safety data sheets are permitted as long as no barriers to ready employee access in each workplace are created by such options."
