This encompasses an $81 million budget and 1860 employees. The public health districts play a vital role in ensuring the safety, health, and well being of the population through the provision of clinical services. This includes children's early intervention programs, high risk prenatal & perinatal screening; control of communicable diseases (STD/HIV/AIDS/TB); family planning, immunization, various Medicaid case management; environmental sanitation; vital statistics; health education and bio-terrorism preparedness. The Bureau of Home Health is a full service Home Health Agency providing operational and administrative management of 13 regional offices and a completely staffed central office. It provides skilled nursing and rehabilitative services (physical, occupational and speech therapies). This encompasses reimbursement through Medicare, Medicaid, and private pay sources.
